She said the districtwide mask mandate in effect since Aug. The Lee County school board is scheduled to discuss mask policy and other virus-mitigation strategies this week, Wasson said. “I can’t put into words how much this hurts.” “He fought hard against COVID but unfortunately it was too much,” Bailey’s son, Austin, said in a social media post. "And then there is one wrong decision, where you endanger children and you allow COVID to spread throughout your community when your hospital is already overburdened.”Ī school custodian in eastern Kentucky died from COVID-19 on Sunday, becoming the second staff member at Lee County Elementary to die from the virus since the school year began.Ĭustodian Bill Bailey died two weeks after an instructional aide at the same school, Heather Antle, also died from the coronavirus, Lee County schools Superintendent Sarah Wasson said. “There is one right answer - where you choose masking, where you protect your kids, where you keep them in school," Beshear said at a Monday news conference. The Democratic governor vetoed the mask-related language, but GOP lawmakers quickly overrode him before ending a three-day special session. "We will make the needed adjustments as things change.Last week, the Republican-dominated legislature scrapped a statewide mask mandate for public schools and imposed a ban on any statewide mask rules until June 2023. We also feel this is the safest way for us to stay in person," Watts said. "We feel that wearing masks increases our chances of providing in-person instruction for our students. Tony Watts, superintendent of Newport Independent Schools, also told The Enquirer the district's expectations regarding masks will stay the same. "Our primary objective is to maintain in-person learning throughout the 2021-2022 school year and I am confident that everyone agrees with this objective." "I am asking every student, staff member, and community member to follow this regulation in order to ensure that we have a great start to the school year," Baker wrote. Walton-Verona Independent School District superintendent Matt Baker sent a letter to district families on Sunday regarding masks. "We are monitoring the situation closely due to the volume of legal activity," superintendent Matt Turner wrote in a letter to Boone County Schools families and staff this week. The districts that replied Tuesday confirmed they are continuing to require masks for everyone inside their buildings. The Enquirer reached out to public school districts in Northern Kentucky regarding their mask policies. You put a whole class of kids that can’t be vaccinated or who aren’t vaccinated together – this is the only outcome that you’re going to get,” Beshear said of rising cases in schools due to optional masking.Īt this point in time, the rescinding of Beshear's order only impacts private schools, as the Kentucky Board of Education only has jurisdiction over the state's public school districts, including schools in the Diocese of Covington. “We know how quickly the delta variant spreads, especially among unvaccinated individuals. Still, Beshear pleaded with school districts to "do the right thing" during a Monday press conference. People in school buildings are not required to wear a mask while eating, while giving a speech or broadcast, while swimming or exercising or while alone in an enclosed room.īeshear rescinded his order after a state Supreme Court ruling that allowed for limits on his executive authority. "The regulation is necessary to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Kentucky public schools and prevent public school closures during the 2021-2022 school year due to COVID-19," the emergency filing reads.Ĭhildren under the age of 2 and those with disabilities are exempt from the policy, the document reads. The regulation is set to expire in early May. 12, states all individuals inside public school facilities are required to wear a face-covering over the nose and mouth. The emergency administrative regulation, filed Aug. "Our district has no choice but to comply with the regulation, which is completely separate from any action regarding the governor’s mandate," Kenton County School District Superintendent Henry Webb told The Enquirer Tuesday. Why? They have to, according to a separate emergency regulation approved by the Kentucky Board of Education. More: COVID-19: Mask policies are changing at Southwest Ohio schools here's an updated list Andy Beshear from enforcing school mask mandate. But it looks like most Northern Kentucky districts are sticking with universal mask policies anyway. Andy Beshear rescinded his executive order Monday that required universal masking in schools.

The reporter Zach Everson, now with Forbes, created a whole Substack newsletter, 1100 Pennsylvania, just to keep track of all the scandals the place generated. The Republican National Committee paid $3,000 per month to host “off the record” meetings with lobbyists, White House officials, and RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel. The Secret Service spent more than $200,000 at the hotel just between 20. The Trump Organization said it would return that money to the Treasury, but it submitted less than $500,000. Foreign governments spent $3.8 million at the hotel. But because it didn’t also violate the Davis-Bacon Act, which requires prevailing wage on federal projects-legally, Trump’s renovation was considered a private rather than a government construction job-the Labor Department dropped it.Īs Trump settled into the Oval Office, the Trump International Hotel established itself as Washington’s premier shakedown venue, defying, among other things, the emoluments clause of the Constitution. That violated the Trump Organization’s 100-year lease with the federal General Services Administration, which owns the Old Post Office. The scandals at the Trump International Hotel began before it opened, with an investigation by the Labor Department into whether the Trump Organization and its subcontractors were paying “prevailing wage,” the rate set by unions within the geographic area. I was witnessing the world with me in it. Only it was worse, because Bailey was seeing the world as it was if he’d never been born. during the Trump years and felt any attachment to the place, you may have experienced, as I did, a double-take every time you walked along Pennsylvania Avenue past the Old Post Office and saw emblazoned in front the words “TRUMP International Hotel.” The District isn’t exactly Bedford Falls, but to see that Romanesque pile, completed in 1899-in D.C., only the Washington Monument and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception are taller -to see that gorgeous edifice tarted up with the forty-fifth president’s name in gold capital letters made me feel like George Bailey beholding Bedford Falls transformed into the honky-tonk Pottersville. As is exhibited all too vividly at the outset, Picasso - as he quickly becomes known for good reasons - loves to torture, to feel his victims’ pain, you might say, and it’s up to Cross and his boyhood friend and partner Tommy Kane ( Edward Burns) to track the maniac down. This is nasty psycho-killer film plain and simple, centered on a wily and well-armed sicko who flat-out announces that, “Inflicting pain is a crucial part of my true calling.” In order to look more cadaverously sinister, Matthew Fox ( Lost) might have shed more weight for a role than anyone since Christian Bale went skeletal for The Machinist. VIDEO: ‘Alex Cross’ Trailer Pits Tyler Perry Against Matthew Fox This repositioning suits the fact that Perry is about 20 years younger than Morgan Freeman was when he played the role in Kiss the Girls in 1997 and Along Came a Spider four years later. Fox is plenty convincing as the cretin without the merest morsel of humanity, while the other actors just cash their paychecks, notably Jean Reno as a French industrialist with an unexplained penchant for turning the city of Detroit around. Not directly based on any single one of Patterson’s novels about the brilliant investigator and forensic psychologist but credited nonetheless as an adaptation of Cross, the script by Mark Moss and Kerry Williamson takes the man back to his pre-Washington and FBI days, when he was a cop on the Detroit police force (though some might notice that, for financial reasons, the film was shot largely in Cleveland). Although watchable and certainly different from the usual run of leading men, he’s not really all that interesting in this character. Towering over the other actors (he’s 6-foot-5), Perry lumbers around with a degree of charisma but a lack of emotional range or variety in line delivery. The camera shakes big time in another sequence when a major lead is discovered that might lead to the killer, and a coda set in Bali is preposterous in the way one of the characters spews out information he has no need to disclose. Picasso torments Cross with taunting phone calls and always seems a step or two ahead of his pursuer, for whom the hunt becomes a personal obsession.ĭirector Rob Cohen takes no time to set up scenes properly to build suspense or, as in the case of the climax and another action interlude involving a car crash, to even make them plausible. On precious little evidence, Cross thinks he has Picasso’s intentions figured out - he seems to be targeting the extravagantly rich - but he and Tommy soon find the victims are too close to home. But domestic decisions will have to wait until the maniac is brought down. The idea of moving doesn’t sit too well with Cross’ wife ( Carmen Ejogo), who announces she’s pregnant with their third child. He would seem to have an unnatural gift for sussing out a bad guy’s m.o., but we never learn anything about this ability, other than that the FBI has noticed it and is paging him to D.C. Unfortunately, there’s no preparation for the way Cross lays out how the first mass murder went down almost as soon as he arrives on the crime scene, apparently so accurately that his visions of what Picasso wrought are simultaneously presented as fact. In numerology, four is a grounded number which promotes structure, responsibility, and stability. They are perfect for those with a strong sense of community and a fondness for entertaining.įour is a serious number, with many cultural superstitions attached. Homes on #3 are lively, upbeat and full of fascinating secrets. Three is a celebrated number across the world, holding significance in many different religions as well as global consciousness and pop culture. The energy of a number 2 home is best embraced by young families and friends who are living together. This home is said to have a sensitive and nurturing environment that promotes balance, teamwork and sentimentality. In numerology, the number two signifies belonging, loving relationships, and harmony. The second number is the complete opposite of the first. The power of number one is best harnessed by those starting a business, working from home, or embarking on a journey of self-discovery. A house with #1 in the address is uniquely suited to self-employed people or singles. According to numerology, 1 is the number of independence, freedom and strength. So, what are good house numbers for luck? Here’s what the most spiritually significant numbers in Numerology mean for a house address. The practice was commonplace by the turn of the century. The earliest recorded instance of a numbered street was Prescot Street in Goodman’s fields, London – in 1708. Numbering houses is a practice that has been around for centuries. Even numbers are always grouped together on one side of the street, and odd numbers on the other. Street numbers correspond to the building’s placement along the street. With that said, here is an overview of the numerological meaning of house numbers and how they might affect you. It does not matter so much what your spirit number is trying to tell you, or if you even believe in such things – what matters is what you choose to do with the advice that numerology hands you. Good advice, regardless of the source, can change a life for the better. Numerology does not have to be true or infallible for it to be useful. However, this does not mean that it has no value. Bear in mind that this about belief rather than a science – as with astrology, there is significant scepticism about the accuracy and truth of numerology. Numbers have a spiritual meaning in numerology which can be interpreted for advice, predictions, and insight. Numerology is closely related to – and associated with – other mystical arts such as astrology, tarot, feng shui and horoscopes. This works for all number, regardless of the length. In this case, it means the numerological number of the house is simply 1 (because 1 + 0 = 1). When you have a two or more digit answer, you simply keep adding the individual numbers until you reach a single digit. This is a two digit number, so it cannot be your numerology number. Now, adding the numbers together doesn’t give us exactly what we want, because 1 + 9 = 10. However, say you live a little further down the road at 19 Example Street. Adding the numbers together (1 +4 ) gives you the numerological number 5. Let’s say your house address or unit number is 14 Example Street. House number meanings: how to find your numerology spiritual numbers Don’t worry – it’s not as complicated as it sounds. If you have letters in your address, you count out their placement on the alphabet and use that number in lieu of the letter when adding everything together. Most numerological charts will explain spiritual circumstances in your life in accordance with your personality number. This number is sometimes known as a personality number or an angel number. Numerology works by adding the significant numbers together until you reach a single digit number. However, numerology can be applied quite broadly to the significant numbers in your life such as the amount of siblings you have, co-ordinates, postcodes, the date of a life-changing event, or even the numbers in your home address. The most well-known example of numerology is the numbers in your birth date and how they may influence your life path. Numerology is a belief in mystical (or divine) connections between humans and numbers which may influence their lives or events which happen around them. Numerology is a pseudoscience dealing with the spiritual meaning of numbers and their relationship with human affairs. It was a firm favourite in my house for a whole summer a few years ago, but it did highlight the issue of bees, and that we really need them. Why a bee? If you don’t have this – a little tip is you can use 3 strands of DK or Worsted Weight yarn instead! Here you can get the instructions to make a large bee using super bulky/ chunky yarn. Hello, Fancy a large crochet bumble bee pattern for free? Well you’ve come to the right place. So yes, while 90% are using the Volt or the YLM, not all are. On the other hand, during German Nationals there were 2-3 competitors that were using puzzles with frictionless U/D layers - in 2019. On the one hand I absolutely loathe inserts personally and multiple times I've accidentally left them in during inspection only to be surprised when the puzzle then refuses to turn. I made a video about this earlier today coincidentally if anyone wants to watch me spend 40 minutes explaining why we don't need inserts. The tightness of the U/D layers actually do help prevent the puzzle from turning. There is only one cubeshape where that can be the case, and it only applies to one layer with one AUF (and it's flipped version with one AUF) where the equator is not flipped. At local competitions I have not used inserts at all for anyone in a very long time and we have had 0 issues related to it. They might move a bit on even worse puzzles (I'll admit that the original qiyi is more prone to this), but it would still be within 45 degrees of where it was for certain. That loose) in random cubeshapes through cube covers (the paper cubicle ones) and they have not moved (they have landed on hard surfaces (the tables of the competition). This issue is very rarely discussed but I feel needs addressed.Įven if we do not remove A2b1 I would like to see some changes with this reg, perhaps only making it legal with the competitors consent, don’t absorb or pick up lubricant have literally thrown super loose non magnetic volts (loose enough for me to take edges out easily to replace them. The last big thing is that this regulation is very rarely done properly, at US nationals 2018 for example it was never announced that they would be using inserts. In some cases you may even get lubricants from multiple square-1s “cross contaminating” other puzzles. It’s almost the equivalent of taking a paper towel and wiping out some lubricant before each solve. Many inserts are made from thin pieces of cardboard such as business cards, the problem with this is that many competitors use water based lubricants inside of their puzzles to keep it fast and these inserts will absorb the lubricant and slow their puzzle down. Not only is it unnecessary to use inserts but in many cases it’s also harmful. With modern square-1s the top and bottom layers are extremely unlikely to turn on their own during transit, much less likely to turn than puzzles such as Skewb. The puzzles at the time most commonly used when this regulation was created were Calvin’s, MF8 and Cubetwist square-1s all of which needed to have extremely loose UD layers in order to even be turntable. Square-1 is the only puzzle the only puzzle in wca history in which we have used inserts, the reason A2b1 was originally added was to help prevent moves during transit. |
